Updated: Nov 29, 2023

We are days away from the first official Guv'nor Frozen 50! We are excited to expand upon the group run that we put on last year, and to grow our Drifty family! Below you should find all the information and race details. If not, please feel free to reach out to us via our website or socials!

Key details to remember:

  • Wear blaze orange or bright colors. It is still hunting season and the park is open to public hunting.

  • All participants will need a WI state park vehicle admissions sticker for entry into the park. Online annual passes can be purchased here, or daily passes can be purchased at the self-kiosk at the park office. Daily passes are $8 for WI residents and $11 for non-WI residents.

December 2nd, 2023

Folks, remember this is the Guv'nor FROZEN 50. It will be December in Wisconsin, so dress accordingly as the picnic area has an open pavilian. We will have campfires going though to huddle around prior to the start of the race.

Parking

Upon entry into Governor Dodge State Park, you will follow our white "parking" signs along Twin Valley Road for 4.1 miles (or approximately 9 minutes) until you reach the Twin Valley Lake beach parking area. A map from the park office to the Twin Valley parking area is here. If you've reached the boat launch, you've gone too far.

Course Information

All routes will be marked with orange pin flags, orange arrows, and orange marking tape. Please follow distant-specific signage as there are splits on the course. All routes will have a combination of horse trail, single track, and prairie path. Oh, and a few hills. :)

50K map can be found here. 50K participants will run in the reverse direction on their 2nd loop. Course cutoff for 50K will be 9 hours, or 5:00pm. Checkpoint cutoff times are 2:54pm at the Ranger Station and 4:00pm at Cox Hollow.

25K map can be found here. The 25K course has a cutoff time of 6 hours, or 2:00pm

15K map can be found here.

Aid and Support

We are excited to have the support of both Movin Shoes and Fleet Feet at our aid stations this year! There will be 3 main (and 1 minor, pending snow) aid stations out of course. Aid stations will be located at Cox Hollow, Ranger Station, Horse Camp, and Twin Valley. A map can be viewed here. Crew tents are allowed at Twin Valley and Cox Hollow. Drop bags allowed at Twin Valley.

Please check in with volunteers at each aid station by calling out your bib number. Hydration will include Skratch, Gatorade, water and soda. We will also have gels, chews, fruit, sweet and salty snacks at all aid stations. We recommend you bring your own hydration vessel as we promote a cupless event! Portos or vault toilets are located at all aid stations.

50K will have 7 aid locations (miles 4.2, 8.1, 11.9, 15.5, 22.8, 27.4)

25K will have 3 aid locations (mile 4.2, 8.1, 11.9)

15K will have 1 aid location (mile 4.2)

We are proud to have medical support from the sports medicine team at Sauk Prairie Healthcare. Should you need medical attention or need to drop from the run, these aid stations will also serve as a sag location.

Finish / Awards

Each participant will receive a finisher medal upon completion of their race. We will be awarding top 3 overall male, female, and non-binary runners for each distance. Hot food will be served at the finish for all runners. May the thoughts of bbq, cheesy potatoes, and minestrone soup dance in your head as you make your way towards the finish. If you feel inclined, stay afterwards to join around the campfires and help support the runners out of course!

Volunteers

We would welcome any friends or family members that would like to volunteer for our race. They can register to volunteer here.

We look forward to sharing this beautiful park with you all on Saturday, December 2nd. Please reach out if you have any questions.
